I live in NYC. I've been looking for a permanent job for 1 year and half . I'm desperate?

I have a bachelors degree in Finance since may 06 have been working odd jobs since and I've been working temp jobs since may 07. I'm desperate because everything i've tried so far leads to a dead end. I want a permanent job. I'm considering going back to school for Accounting or Medical field. What should I do?

I am sorry you have not been successful so far, but don't give up. May I suggest that you try accountancy firms , as you have already a degree in Finance, they may assist you with your fees to study an accountancy degree. Good Luck !

That is so not true - how many times do some people get told - we cant hire you, you are overqualified??

Although I would agree that the OP might consider studying part time for an accounting qualification.
Reply:It actually really depends.... on you.

You see, further studying would require money, time, effort and determination.

On the other hand, you shouldn't really stop job hunting, you know there's really no easy stuff nowadays. It's all work work and work (well, as for your case, it's all look for work, look for work and look for work)

As for my opinion (really =) ) if you have all the resources, wy not study some more ( if you know you're determined not to mention patient enough). We all know companies hire those who are graduate with the highest level of education

good luck to you. =)
Reply:Look into doing a professional accty course ACCA/ACA u might get exceptioms from the first few yrs so it would only take a few yrs to get qualified, this would be more helpful to getting a job in accounting then a MBA
